A stadium moves up to Division 1 — and the sound moves with it.
Fifth Third Stadium is home to Kennesaw State University athletics and draws a wide fan base across football, lacrosse, soccer, and Atlanta United 2 matches. As the school stepped up to an NCAA Division 1 conference, the audio that filled those stands had started to fail. The brief was to lift the fan experience without spilling sound into the neighborhoods next door.

A multi-use stadium with a growing crowd
Fifth Third Stadium sits on the Kennesaw State University campus in Georgia and hosts a full slate of events — university football, lacrosse, soccer, and Atlanta United 2 of MLS Next Pro. Home seating, visitor seating, and a large grandstand across the opposite endzone all expect the same clear sound.
The existing system was reaching the end of its life. Vocal intelligibility had fallen away and the low end had little impact, just as a move to an NCAA Division 1 conference raised the bar on what the venue had to deliver.
Carry the whole bowl — and keep the sound on the field
Reaching the home and visitor seating was only part of the job. The big grandstand across the opposite endzone needed the same impact, and all of it had to stay inside the stadium so nearby residential areas were left undisturbed.
The new rig also had to live within the original footprint, replacing a failing system that offered little vocal intelligibility or low-end impact.
A point-source system built for the long throw
The design pairs four Electro-Voice MTS point-source loudspeakers for the long throw across the bowl with four Electro-Voice X-Line X12-128 dual 18-inch subwoofers for low-end weight, and two Electro-Voice EVF front-loaded fills for the closer seating. The MTS pattern control was chosen to put energy on the stands and keep it off the surrounding streets.
Power comes from Dynacord amplification — two IPX10:4 amplifiers driving the MTS loudspeakers and one IPX20:4 amplifier on the subwoofers. A new Daktronics video display rounds out the upgrade.

“The challenge was to deliver impactful sound not only to the home and visitor seating but to the big grandstand located in the opposite endzone as well. All while keeping the sound contained to the stadium. We know from experience that the MTS loudspeakers were perfect for the job.”
An elevated fan experience, end to end
The new system addressed the failing audio, restoring vocal intelligibility and low-end impact while keeping the sound contained to the stadium. Paired with the upgraded scoreboard, it has transformed the experience across the venue's many teams and events.
The upgrade highlights Fifth Third Stadium within the school's Division 1 conference and integrates with the surrounding community it sits beside.

Stronger low-end impact for the crowd
Sound contained to the stadium, away from neighbors
