Controls the club could run day to day
The Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough FC
35,000 seats, one matchday roar — every word clear.
The Riverside Stadium has been the home of Middlesbrough FC since 1995, an all-seater ground built for 35,000 supporters. The previous public address system had aged past the point of clear speech, and the matchday experience suffered for it. The brief was direct — lift announcements, music, and safety messaging across the whole bowl, and do it with a system the club could run with confidence.

A 35,000-seat bowl that had outgrown its sound
The Riverside Stadium opened in 1995 as the home of Middlesbrough FC, a 35,000 all-seater ground on the banks of the River Tees. Every matchday it asks the same thing of its sound system — carry announcements, music, and safety messaging clearly to a full house.
The previous public address system had reached the end of its working life. Age had worn down the audio quality to the point where the matchday experience was being held back, and a full replacement was the only way forward.
Lift the matchday experience across the whole bowl
Middlesbrough FC wanted the matchday experience raised, and the sound system was central to that. The replacement had to reach every part of a 35,000-seat ground with clear speech and music, while serving public address and voice alarm duties for a full crowd.
Integrator UK Audio Engineering, led by director Jordan Alderton, presented an Electro-Voice and Dynacord solution to meet the brief.
One Electro-Voice and Dynacord system, tuned to the ground
The design centred on 68 Electro-Voice EVH horn-loaded loudspeakers, flown in pairs from the stadium roof to cover the seating bowl. Five Dynacord IPX10:8 amplifiers drove the array, with two Dynacord MXE5 Matrix Mix Engines handling control and mixing across the system.
A Bosch PRAESENSA public address and voice alarm system tied the install together, bringing announcements and life-safety messaging under one platform with enhanced zone control.

With the new system in place, The Riverside Stadium delivers clear sound across the whole ground. Announcements, music, and safety messaging now reach supporters across the bowl, and the matchday experience the club set out to lift has the audio to match.
The system also gives the club enhanced control, with levels adjusted quickly and easily as a matchday unfolds.
